I am definitely not the first or last person to come up with a list of hurtful statements made towards someone disabled, but I hope my article gives you (the able-bodied and disabled) a fantastic example of why we should be more compassionate and forgiving.
Hurting people don’t need clichés to get through their pain. They need your presence and consistency, which is exponentially harder than a comment here and there.
You might be experiencing a season of life marked by day-to-day happiness and overall ease. But I have bad news: the other shoe will drop. Life is not always going to be rainbows and butterflies.
